the lore
Coca-Cola's first polar bear showed up in 1922, in a print advertisement in France. It was a one-off. The company would spend the next seventy years mostly ignoring it.
Then, in 1993, a commercial called Northern Lights aired during the NBA Finals. A family of computer-animated bears gathered on the ice to watch the aurora, passed around bottles of Coke, and said nothing. It ran for sixty seconds and changed the brand forever.
The man behind it, Ken Stewart, had been stuck. He had the northern lights, the ice, the idea of an audience watching a show in the sky. He didn't have a character. Then his yellow Labrador wandered into the room, big and pale and unbothered, and Stewart saw it: the dog he had always called his "polar bear puppy."
The dog's name was Morgan.
Thirty-odd years later the bears are one of the most recognized mascots on earth, so recognizable that in 2026 Pepsi hijacked them for a Super Bowl LX ad without ever needing to say whose bear it was. Everyone already knew.
So the bear has a name, and it has a memecoin. This is it.
